Janet A. Canepa ’82

Distinguished Faculty/Administrator Award
Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations

A self-described people person, Janet Canepa ‘82 has been an engaged, active member of the Fairfield University community since her undergraduate days when she served as a resident advisor, an Admission tour guide, and co-chaired new student orientation and senior week. When she graduated, Canepa was awarded the prestigious Loyola medal for engagement and service, the first of many recognitions she would receive from Fairfield. After graduation, she joined the Alumni Association board, supporting many projects and serving as her class reunion co-chair twice. In 1992, Canepa became the first female president of the Alumni Association. During that time, she worked as a project manager at IBM until the pull from her beloved alma mater drew her back in 1995 to lead the alumni relations efforts at Fairfield. As assistant vice president of Alumni Relations, Canepa has forged relationships with generations of Stags.

Canepa says, “The University has grown and changed, but what hasn't changed are the people who still want to get together, the notion that Stags stick together.” She is on a mission to meet all 40,000 alumni, so if you haven’t yet, please reach out to her!
